This weekend I realised we are properly back in the hockey world. With three days dedicated to training, playing and coaching and no break it's like we've never been away and I love it.
Oh and the rink is opening up again next Friday! Back to cocoon on wheels!!!
Oh and my friend in Afghanistan is alive! (Thank you Facebook for your "last time on line" feature)

live the dream...
I dreamed of you last night, it was as if you had never left,
I woke with a smile on my face, Realisation was like a knife in the heart.

R.I.P skating (again)...
I think this year will bring many changes and much excitement, so hold onto your hats.
My local rink has closed for the second time in five years which is such a shame for our skating community, especially the OAPs. There can not be a better sight than watching a dozen long retired folk strap themselves into inlines or quads and race the beejesus out of each other. Smiling, but not laughing until the race is over and the winner has been congratulated and the loser has bought the tea and cakes.
I have a friend in the forces and he is off on his first tour in less than two weeks *takes deep slow breath* I'm praying for a safe return in one piece #thatisall
The Boys will be starting driving lessons soon and their car is coming next week! I hope all those years of pointing out bad driving and silly over take manoeuvres has made an impression on them and they don't end up in a ditch. I'm thinking of taking them over to petslayers and having them microchipped with a GPS tracker so they can't be lost for too long (especially No1 son who can't find his butt with both hands).
We (the royal we) are currently waiting on three babies!! We had four girls born in 2012 so a couple of boys would be nice to even things up a tad.
Lots of tea has been drunk this week and many biscuits consumed. Catching up with friends I have neglected since semester one started has been the best part of this long break. Even though I still have two weeks before we return I'm already getting a little edgy about it.
Ooh and I got 85% for my last piece of uni work!! My first first...

After today's return from a London mini break here is a list or two...
Things I miss about London
Friends and family (they still pop up so its not too bad)
West Indian food (especially salt fish and Ackee dumplings)
Bagels from Brick Lane bagel bake
Pie & mash from Manze's
Things I really don't miss about London
Traffic, traffic wardens, parking tickets, paying for parking, lack of parking spaces, dickhead drivers and people that can't park
Dirt
Cyclists in the road
Things I miss when I'm away
Friends and family
The sky and stars
Work
Seeing dickhead drivers coming from a mile away
The Luxe Cinema
My sofa
Free parking
RAF jets dog fighting over the house
I still love my country life... not going back EVER.

Has it really been three years?
Ok, quick catch up
One year of counselling training, one year of access to science and nursing and three months into a psychology degree...
Life has had its ups and downs, I have lost people and found people, good people. People I wouldn't be without. We've had births, engagements, marriages and too many funerals. Been too drunk and too sober, exercised and got fat. Seen many shows and made a show of myself on many occasions :)
Got bored with twitter and Facebook and currently getting on the instagram train (bendyvaughan)
Erma, yep, that's about all.

Diary - David Gates
I found her diary underneath a tree.
and started reading about me
The words she's written took me by surpise
you'd never read them in her eyes.
They said that she had found the love she waited for.
Wouldn't you know it, she wouldn't show it.
When she confronted with the writing there,
simply pretended not to care.
I passed it off as just in keeping with
her total disconcerting air
and though she tried to hide
the love that she denied,
wouldn't you know it, she wouldn't show it.
And as I go through my life, I will give to her my wife
all the sweet things that I can find.
I found her diary underneath a tree.
and started reading about me.
The words began stick and tears to flow.
Her meaning now was clear to see.
The love she'd waited for was someone else not me
Wouldn't you know it, she wouldn't show it.
and as I go through my life, I will wish for her his wife
all the sweet things that she can find
all the sweet things they can find
I found her diary underneath a tree.

Roller Skating Granny...
By Passim
I love my next door neighbours.
They’re a wonderful old pair.
And though they’re getting on in years.
Their sense of fun’s still there.
The trouble is they’re out late,
on the yard with all their friends,
and although it’s nearly midnight,
the party never ends.
I try to read my book in bed,
but I really cannot win.
Old Albert’s on the Guinness.
and Mabel’s on the gin.
What’s going up the entry now?
This noise it just won’t do.
A roller skating granny!!
Believe me, - it’s all true.
Oh let them have their fun now.
“They're getting old” I think.
But I’m really being generous,
and I just can’t sleep a wink.
But listen…it’s all quiet.
They’ve stopped for goodness sake.
I bet they’re all now fast asleep,
and me – I’m wide awake.
This poem could have been written about any of the lovely people that I am going to skate with tomorrow and one day I hope to be one of them.
